Antique Sewing Machine Values
A brief guide

NO1 NEW RELEASE!
The must have book for collectors and enthusiasts.

Most of us know the name Singer but few are aware of his amazing life story, his rags to riches journey from a little runaway to one of the richest men of his age. The story of Isaac Merritt Singer will blow your mind, his wives and lovers his castles and palaces all built on the back of one of the greatest inventions of the 19th century. For the first time the most complete story of a forgotten giant is brought to you by Alex Askaroff.

Antique sewing machine valuation.
What is my sewing machine worth?

Valuing sewing machines is tricky at the best of times. There has been thousands of sewing machine companies making endless varieties of models. The result is that there are countless old sewing machines out there. Singer were making over 1,000,000 machines every 12 months and have been making sewing machines since 1851. There were over 300 sewing machine manufacturers in Germany alone!

Now, there are some valuable sewing machines out there amongst the millions of Five-Pound-Specials. Sorting out those precious few is not easy.

Two ways to  find the value of
 your antique sewing machine

One way is to Google the model that you have and search for websites that talk about it. Some give an idea of what they might be worth. If you are not sure Google images rather than makes and scroll through them.

Another way to find out a current value is to look up your sewing machine on eBay or other auction sites and see what similar models are going for. Not the 'Buy it Now' enthusiasts, hoping for a windfall, but the final auction sale price.

Remember, just like stamps, coins and cars, it is all about condition. A rare machine in poor condition is worth only a fraction of one in great condition. A rolls Royce in a scrap yard will not have the same value as the one parked in Buckingham Palace with James polishing it!

One other point to remember is that cleaning or tampering with an old machine can make it worth less, not more! Be patient and be careful. This is not always the case as with the current refurbished Singer Featherweights but watch out, collectors like original.
